Why Contributing to Community Matters

This week Farland Group employees will spend some time at The Women’s Lunch Place in Boston; a wonderful safe place for women to get a warm meal, learn new skills to help workforce re-entry, and be part of a social community that brings much needed support. Since we started Farland Group, it was important to us that we extend what we do for our clients – helping them to connect more deeply with their client communities – to our own community.
There is plenty of research showing that socially responsible businesses not only connect more effectively to their employees and customers, but are also more productive businesses. While we have certainly experienced these outcomes as a business, the most important outcome is that as a team we have time to connect with each other around something that is bigger than our business.
So as you embark on 2015 and begin thinking about your business goals, spend some time thinking about your community and what you can give back. You don’t need to be a huge corporation to make a difference in the lives of those around you.
